The previous General Convention of the Episcopal Church (’22) adopted a resolution (A127) that established a Commission to study and report on the Episcopal Church’s history with Native American and Alaska Native Boarding Schools.
Alaska Episcopalians Pearl Chanar and The Reverend Anna Frank were appointed to the A127 Commission by the President of the House of Deputies in consultation with Brad Hauf who serves as the Missioner for Native American and Indigenous Ministries of the Episcopal Church. Bishop Lattime also serves on the A127 Commission as appointed by the Presiding Bishop.
Here in Lexington at this 81 General Convention, the A127 Commission held a “Talking Circle” and heard a presentation by the leaders and research team. Below is a link to watch that presentation.
The Historiographers of the Diocese of Alaska, Jake Lambers and Adam Lees, are assisting with the work of researching the history of Episcopal Boarding Schools in this Diocese.
