Purpose
The mission of the church is to restore all creation in the power of the Holy Spirit, to unity with God through Christ, who reconciles us to each other and God.
We fulfill our purpose by:
- Proclaiming the Gospel
- Administering the Sacraments
- Worshipping the Creator
- Healing the sick
- Teaching Christ’s commandments
- Preaching Good News to the poor
- Making disciples of all people for Christ
Goals
The Bishop’s Office is a visible symbol of this purpose by prayerfully living out a life that:
Makes disciples through baptism, confirmation, ordination, and a variety of ministries which support the on-going life of the church.
- Shows the church is one in Christ, on in faith, one in baptism, and one in mission.
- Witnesses to the power of the Holy Spirit
Vision
Our vision is to put Jesus Christ into the hearts of our people, to make disciples for Christ by regularly engaging the Gospel in a circle of love and prayer and to give witness to what Christ does in our lives’ and the lives of others.
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
~ Matthew 28:16-20 (NRSV)
Strategy
Our strategy is to revitalize congregations, empower deaneries for mission, focus attention on mission, formation and communication.
